Bee Keeping Class (sold out)

I will be offering six-week, hands on, beginner beekeeping courses this coming spring. Classes will be offered on Saturdays from April 6th – May 11th. Two class times are available, 12:30 – 2:00 and 2:30 – 4:00. Altogether, it’s nine hours of instruction. By the end of the course you should feel comfortable and knowledgeable enough to have a hive of your own. Each class is limited to five students. Cost is $95 per student and does not include protective clothing. Students are responsible for providing their own hat/veil combo and gloves. Spots will only be held once payment has been received. Payment can be made via the Store page, cash or check. Students or their legal guardians will be required to sign a liability release form.

Classes are open to ages 5 – 99 and will be held at my farm in southern Spring Hill (< 5 minutes from I-65 & exit 46, Bear Creek Pike exit). On days where the weather is favorable (60 degrees minimum, isn’t raining, low wind), we will open up a beehive. On days where the weather isn’t favorable, class will be held inside. Topics covered will include…

• Woodenware and beekeeping equipment
• Bee pests and management
• Types of honeybees, their lifecycle and behavior
• Bee friendly plants
• What a beekeeper should do at different times of the year.
