This course is meant to familiarize “newbees” with the gear, terminology, pests, biology, lifecycle, etc. of honeybees. It’s a good crash course for novices. Due to the time of year, we won’t be opening any hives. However, if you want to start beekeeping next spring, this course should prepare you for that. Graduates of this course will also be made aware of some of the swarm catches I’ll be doing next spring and invited to tag along. Class is limited to 10 students, and is for ages 10 – 99. Prepay to reserve your spot. PayPal, Venmo, cash or check are all options.
Classes will be held at Sweeney Hill Farm
1234 Cliff Amos Rd.
Topics covered will include…
- Woodenware and beekeeping equipment
- Bee pests and management
- Types of honeybees, their lifecycle and behavior
- Bee friendly plants
- What a beekeeper should do at different times of the year.
